Sonia Monterisi achieved a bachelor’ degree in Biotechnology at University of Bari “Aldo Moro” (Italy) and a master’ degree in Food Sciences at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Italy). Currently, she is finalising her PhD in Food Engineering and Biotechnology at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Italy) during which she spent a period as visiting postgraduate researcher at the University of Dundee, Scotland (UK). She is member of the Italian Society of Agricultural Chemistry (SICA). Her research interests are mostly focused on the study of interactions among plants and biostimulants (i.e., beneficial microorganisms and vegetal-derived protein hydrolysates) aiming at understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning the biostimulants effects on plants. In particular, her main focus is on the application of integrative multi-omics approach, thereby combining transcriptomic, metabolomic and metagenomic, together with other molecular biology techniques (e.g., RT-qPCR) to investigate the plant genetic pathways involved in the molecular response to the biostimulant application, either in optimal or stressing conditions.
